Abstract Content:  The first randomized controlled study to stringently compare two different cryotherapy protocols using subjects with closed soft tissue injury. The results highlight that even shorter, intermittent applications may enhance the analgesic effects of cooling after acute ankle injury. This trial underscores that cryotherapy is safe and small periods without cooling to not compromise the short-term result.
