Abstract Content:  A modified Ice, Compression and Elevation (ICE) protocol is discussed for used by trainers in acute sports injuries. The pathophysiological responses to injury and cold is discussed as it would help both emergency rooms and trainers treat athletes without causing them more pain and discomfort.
